Thank You Note for the People who Made AEA SingKwenta Possible

31 Dec

Oh hi there. I hope that you get to enjoy the short holidays. Well I know I enjoyed mine by putting up an additional 10 pounds and finishing a lengthy reading or two. And oh, trying (and failing) to comprehend Metrics.

This is a long overdue note of thanks to all the people who made “AEA’s SingKwenta: Where Yesterday and Today Meet” possible, and a raving success at that. I’ll try to remember specific names as much as possible in this list. (Warning: this note is quite lengthy)

Anne, co-project head and newfound friend. Kudos to the superior work in inviting and coordinating with the alumni. Thanks for being very patient with my shortcomings and for the support and guidance.

Holy, co-project head, hardworking girl and so much more. For the wonderful floorplan and the impeccable work with the nitty-gritty details of the event, from the decorations to the layout everything in between. And oh, apologies for much of the overlap between our responsibilities (it’s mostly my bad) and thanks for handling such things very well.

Ton, ever-awesome Programs co-head and confidant. For the much-needed help in programs and that wonderful script for the emcees. Enjoy your time in Singapore.

Purgy, host extraordinaire and Programs co-head. May future ka sa Eat Bulaga, ‘teh.

The Comm team of Krusty, Macy and KL. Awesome promos, tarps, etc. Sorry for the constant short notices on my part.

Abby Reyes (oo full name para di ma-confuse with Abby Poblador Malay). Logistics master extraordinaire. Event won’t push through without finding that awesome caterer and addressing all the bullcrap OAS, OSA and PPO needed.

Raisa, Alumni Relations head, na naka-chummy na ata lahat ng alumni. For the constant updates on everything alumni.

Billie, Decors head (ikaw na ang artistic). That was one mean exhibit there. And thanks for the spotlights as well.

The seniors, who chipped in much help in their own ways. Ernest, for the help in marketing the event, Clar, for the awesome souvenirs and merchandise, Danica for making sure I don’t drink too much, and the rest who were very enthusiastic before and throughout the event.

Majo, and the rest of the Alumni Research team. Dahil enjoy mag-halugog sa mga Aegis at Guidon issues with you guys. Props to Charles and Mikee and the rest as well.

Meenol, the ever awesome videomaker. Kelangan ko pa talaga mag workshop sa ‘yo. And major thanks to the people in the Videos team, to Majo, Mayo and Jai.

Stefan, for loaning us his laptop during the event. And much more.

Jaya, Austin, Crissel and Eric of the Campus Tours team (na di rin masyadong naka-tour, hahaha, and sorry ‘bout that as well) for helping keep the energy level high in and out the venue.

Bea, Shirley, Frances, Clarice and the rest of the Secretariat people in the event. Sorry di ko kayo napagtanggol masyado dun sa a-hole na hater alumnus, and great job sa smooth flow ng pagpasok ng mga tao.

Finance head Ari and Correl head Julius, yehey we haz cash nao \:D/ Thanks as well for helping with getting us cash.

The Senior Board of advisers (Ed Nitura and Anne Ferrer) and the Economics Department for all the tips, guidance and suggestions for the event.

The performers who added much color to the success of the event. Tara, MK, Reinier and Aila (and Austin na rin) of Ateneo Dancesport. That was one mean dance number.  Ateneo College Ministry Group singers; special props to Ari (woohoo singer ka pala) and Niks Yumul, along with the 6 other awesome singers. And Nyla, ever the wonderful ka-jamming with impeccable voice. We should have a YouTube channel of sorts soon after your France JTA.

Fr Nebres and VP Vergara for taking time off their busy scheds for a pair of nice interviews. Speaking of interviews, thanks as well to Sir Venida of Economics Department, Anne Ferrer, Mrs. Gil of University Press for the alumni interviews. To Sir de Guzman, Sir Dumlao, Sir Habito, Sir Wally Belen, Maam Domdom, Sir Tuano and Sir Jamil, all from Economics Department, for the professor interviews. Sir RSA of ADSA, Sir Ino of OSA, Maam Habana of History Dept, Maam Teh of Psych Dept, Sir Lim, Ate Sai (best wishes :D) and Ate Malou of Econ Dept, Sir Leland of DS Program, Sir Jimenez of Theo Dept, Doc Gus of Philo Dept, Bob Soledad of COA, Reg Guevara of Sanggu and Fr. Calasanz of ADAA for the congratulatory messages. (There wasn’t enough time to show all the interviews during the event, but we’re gonna upload these on the AEA site very soon)

LS Maintenance personnel, Techbooth guy, PPO, OSA, and (sige na nga) Sir Geoff of/and OAS. For the tangibles and the intangibles.

Smart, Security Bank and anonymous/not-so-anonymous people (for the sponsorship), Verleo (for the awesome catering), the photobooth people(it added to much of the fun in the event), Jeepney Magazine, Fine Arts Department (for the panels)

Karen, AEA’s Golden President (in more ways than one) for the steady leadership and much help and guidance in this event.

Sir de Guzman (syempre special mention), Economics Department chair and AEA’s very accommodating and kind moderator  for much of the guidance from the planning to the execution of the event.

The rest of the EXECOM na maaaring di ko specific na na-mention but became a big part of the event by all sorts of help provided in the duration of the project. And siyempre sa buong AEA na rin.

The uber-enthusiastic, helpful and fun freshies: Austin, Yuppy, Gelene, Ika, Carlo, Sam, Gui and the rest (sorry sa mga di ko na-mention yung names). Malayo mararating niyo guys :D

Special mention sa Block K ‘12, na perfect attendance sa event. Ton (see above), Ai (a confidant and someone na nakahanap talaga ng time for this event despite OJT-ing), Carlo (future Willie Revillame without the annoying voice, thanks for adding life to the event), Junjun (who did a little bit of everything in the event itself), Charles (good work sa Alumni Research), Yssa (promise, isosoli ko yung extension sa January) and Eric (oo sila na nga. LOL). Love you guys.

And, of course, to all the alumni and students and professors who went to the event. Am forever grateful to you.

(Sa mga nalimutan kong pasalamatan, am really sorry coz I’m bad with names like that. Salamat sa ‘yo as well.)

We offer all these to the (wo)Man Upstairs.

Happy Holidays \:D/
